Basic Ice Fishing Clinic

Interested in learning how to ice fish? This hands-on clinic will cover everything you need to know to go ice fishing. Topics will include: ice safety, hole drilling, equipment and techniques, regulations, and much more. Near the end of the program participants will have a chance to practice the skills they have learned. Please dress appropriately for the conditions.

Introduction to Smelting on Waterbury Reservoir

This hands-on clinic will focus on targeting smelt through the ice. Instructors will review specific equipment and techniques used to effectively catch smelt during the winter months. All participants will have an opportunity to practice the new techniques they have learned near the end of the clinic. Please dress appropriately for the conditions and bring a head-lamp.

Introduction to Fly Tying

Let’s Go Fishing is partnering with the Green Mountain Fly Tiers to offer an introductory fly tying course focusing on material, hook, and thread terminology. Techniques such as thread control, proportion, tying on materials, dubbing, and wings and tails will be covered while tying a variety of flies. 

The four-week course will be held on Monday evenings. Participants are expected to attend all four evenings. There is a $20 fee to cover the cost of materials.

A limited number of vices and equipment can be made available for those that need it.
Registration is limited and can be completed by calling 802-265-2279 or emailing letsgofishing@vermont.gov   The deadline to register is one week before the start of the course.
